ITINERARY
Day 1
Arrival in Lhasa
Upon arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport (LXA), you will be transferred to your hotel in the city. The journey takes you into the heart of Tibet, where you can immediately feel the spiritual tranquility of the highland. After checking in, take the rest of the day to rest and acclimate to the high altitude of the Tibetan Plateau.
Day 2
Lhasa - Spiritual City
After breakfast, begin your exploration of Lhasa, starting with the Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site perched at 3,750 meters above sea level. This majestic palace was once the winter residence of the Dalai Lama and offers sweeping views of the city. Continue to the Jokhang Temple, considered the most sacred temple in Tibetan Buddhism, and feel the deep devotion of pilgrims prostrating in front. Then stroll through Barkhor Street, a bustling marketplace encircling the temple, full of religious artifacts, prayer flags, and traditional Tibetan crafts. Finally, visit the Tangka Museum to appreciate the intricate and spiritual artistry of Tibetan thangka painting.
Day 3
Lhasa - Shigatse
Depart from Lhasa and begin a breathtaking drive across the vast Tibetan Plateau. Climb to Kamba La Pass at 4,990 meters, where panoramic views of Yamdrok Lake—one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes—will leave you speechless. Its turquoise waters shimmer beneath snow-capped mountains. Next, journey to the base of the Karola Glacier, rising to 5,010 meters, where glistening ice flows down the mountainside just beside the road. Proceed to Gyantse, once a flourishing trade town, and visit the ancient Tsong Fortress, perched on a hilltop with sweeping views. End the day at the Para Manor, a well-preserved noble estate reflecting traditional Tibetan architecture and lifestyle.
Day 4
Shigatse - Lhasa
After breakfast, visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama and one of the most important monasteries in Tibetan Buddhism. Wander its vast courtyards, golden roofs, and towering Buddha statues. On the return journey to Lhasa, experience a local Tibetan family home and a Tibetan incense workshop, offering insight into the everyday spiritual life of the region.
Day 5
Lhasa - Culture & Leisure
In the morning, explore the Tibet Museum, where historical artifacts and exhibits provide a deep understanding of the region’s unique history and culture. Then visit Norbulingka, the “Summer Palace” of the Dalai Lamas, set in beautifully landscaped gardens. The afternoon is free for you to relax or explore the city at your own pace.
Day 6
Departure from Lhasa
